The festive holiday parties are upon us and it is very difficult to resist the temptation.  Most times there are foods that are only available during the holidays.  My advice is to enjoy a taste of these foods but don’t bring them home with you.  If you bring them home the temptation is only greater to over indulge.

Day 15 Healthy Holiday Habits

Eat high fiber snacks!  Fiber fills you up and reduces cravings.  My favorite high fiber snacks are from Fiber One.  I really like their 90 calorie options.

Day 17 Healthy Holiday Habits

DON’T SKIP BREAKFAST!

It is true that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast
is the break from the over night fast and it jumpstarts your metabolism.
Research studies show that people who skip breakfast tend to weigh
more than non-skippers.

Follow a healthy diet plan!

KEEP A FOOD DIARY!
The food dairy is the most powerful tool to obtaining successful weight
loss. A study published in the American Journal of Preventive
Medicine showed participants who kept a food diary doubled their
weight loss. The simple act of writing down everything you eat and
drink throughout the day makes you more aware of your eating habits
and how much you are actually consuming. Food journaling makes you
accountable for your consumption and will make you think twice before
you take that bite. Get writing; you may be shocked of what you find
you are eating and that it really does work.

Day 20 Healthy Holiday Habits

When eating out, split the meal with your companion.  You will save on calories and the bill.  If that’s not an option, ask your server to put half your entrée in a to-go bag.

BEWARE of The Cotton Ball Diet !

There are millions of fad diets out there; but, I do have to say that “The Cotton Ball Diet” is the utmost craziest diet I have seen.  Not to mention, it’s potential danger.  The diet calls for consuming 5 cotton balls saturated in juice, lemonade, or smoothie in one sitting so you feel full.  Therefore, you will eat less and lose weight.  Please don’t attempt this diet!
